When Sheila came to us she had been at her company for nine years and thought she would retire from there. Unfortunately, because of government funding cuts, her position was put at risk; the facility staffing had already been cut by nearly 50%. She thought the company would improve, but it became clear that if Sheila wanted to further her career, she would have to relocate (not a desired outcome), and even so, upside could be limited. Sheila’s career goal had been to make VP within two years.
In the course of excellent networking and management of all channels of her campaign, Sheila ended up with multiple conversations in play. The current one came about as follows, and is described in her own words:
“A Technical Recruiter was hired by XXXX to identify talent for their company. They found me via LinkedIn and reached out to me. I had a phone interview with them, receiving positive feedback (based on excellent SC&C interview training!) but unfortunately XXXX decided to absorb the position internally. The recruiter asked if it would be okay to retain my resume on file for future opportunities.
The recruiter reached out to me again for another position with another company but I declined (The job was not of interest to me).
For a third time the recruiter called again indicating that XXXX asked for me regarding an Engineering Manager position they had just opened since they were impressed with my enthusiasm, leadership style and skillset, because of my first interviews with them. XXXX believed that I was a perfect match. Within minutes of the recruiter’s phone call, the HR manager for XXXX called me and asked if I was available and would entertain jumping onboard XXXX.
A SKYPE interview was setup the following Wednesday with the XXXX team. I must say, it was the first time I have ever had a “real” interview over SKYPE but it was GREAT! 10 minutes later, the recruiter called me to say that an offer was on the way! They both told me they have never seen anyone receive an offer after a SKYPE interview.
I ran the offer by my Campaign Director (Bill Temple) who guided me through the process. His strategies helped me obtain the following:
- Signing bonus: $3,000.00 – no signing bonus from original offer
- Base: $137,000.00 up from original offer $128,000
- Moving expenses: $15,000.00 up from original offer $10,000
- 100% paid benefits (health, dental, vision and sick time)
- $50,000 Life insurance policy
- 401,000 and company match Annual bonus in October, percentage based on company performance
- Possibility for salary increase 2X a year, depending on performance
- 3 weeks paid vacation
A HUGE thank you to Bill Temple and to everyone on my Stewart, Cooper & Coon team!”
